We take pride in being a Green company and provide Green products worldwide, that are created from nature, and given back to nature, through environmental consciousness during the manufacturing process and everyday practices. Our products contain both pre consumer and post consumer recycled content!

Environmental performance is proof of our committment.

Respect for the environment at GranitiFiandre comes from an everlasting commitment to the lands where we live and work. All of the people at GranitiFiandre take part in this commitment as well as our contractors, inside and outside the company. The acceptance of EMAS Regulation, together with a System of Environmental Management in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14001, aims to give more strength to our respect for the environment.

Environmental & Quality Management Systems

GranitiFiandre has operated under UNI EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System since 1995. On September 12, 2000 GranitiFiandre became the only Ceramic producer in the world to achieve the specific requirements of UNI EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management and Audit System. The Environmental Management System, used to measure and manage ongoing operations, includes the monitoring of production processes, logistics, maintenance, microclimate, water cycle, wastes, internal recycling, energy consumption, and characteristics of the production site.


RAW MATERIAL UTILIZATION

GranitiFiandre porcelain production is a closed-loop process that recycles 100% of raw material and water wastes.


Post-industrial recycling

Polishing factory reclaims residue from polishing process. Material is fired into a durable ingredient for highway paving. All water from polishing factory is recycled back to the production line.


Recycled materials

GranitiFiandre uses recycled materials whenever possible to help reduce the amount of raw materials and energy required to produce paper and plastic products.
We use recycled materials, such as:

  • Carton boxes for finished products
  • Cardboard packaging separators on pallets
  • Plastic used to pack the pallets
  • Paper used in all offices

Installation Site Air Qality

    GranitiFiandre porcelain and geologic stones contain no added VOC's. With the proper use and maintenance, these materials help reduce overall off-gassing in efforts to meet LEED interior air quality standards.
  • No sealants or waxes required that could add harmful VOC's to a building. (Most quarried stones must be sealed and waxed to maintain appearance)
  • Easy regular cleaning with Ph neutral cleaning products
  • Stain resistant surface reduces the need for harsh cleaning agents

Anti-pollution devices

GranitiFiandre manufacturing facilities use anti pollution devices that far exceed the minimum standards required by law including:

  • Smoke Depurators
  • Sand Depurators (regeneration and re-utilization)
  • Water Purifiers (total depuration, regeneration, and re-utilization)
  • Re-Utilization of Heat coming from the kilns for the drying process
  • Re-Utilization of Production Losses

Fiandre, Iris Ceramica, and Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti have all been awarded these prestigious certifications:

EMAS REGULATION: environmental efficiency standards for industrial activities and presentation of pertinent information to the public.

ISO 9001 NORM: quality system model which evaluates the organization's capability of supplying certain products or services.

ISO 14001 NORM: environmental management system model leading to the formulation of an environmental policy in which targets are established taking into account legal requirements and information on significant environmental impact.

GreenGuard Certifications:The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) governs and administers the GREENGUARD Certification ProgramSM. GEI is an independent, non-profit organization founded to create healthier indoor environments, which improve public health and quality of life.  GREENGUARD Certified products are low-emitting and contribute minimal levels of pollutants to indoor environments to ensure continuous low emissions performance.
